Biography | Leonora Neary

Based between Roscommon and Sligo, Leonora Neary is a visual artist. Particularly interested in the emotional and ethereal planes of landscape, her work focuses on our connection with and experience of our surroundings. In recent years, she has begun to work with music – composing and recording acoustic piano.

A graduate of the University of Ulster in Belfast, she has been awarded residencies at Cill Rialaig and the Tyrone Guthrie Centre in addition to bursaries and funding awards from local arts services, Creative Ireland, Culture Ireland and Arts Council Ireland.

In 2015, Leonora co-created and co-ordinated 'Of This Place', a Yeats 2015-related project that brought eight visual artists, a writer and their work to exhibit at Ateneo de Madrid and Hamilton Gallery, Sligo. This project was awarded funding from Culture Ireland, Yeats 2015, The Irish Diaspora Fund and Sligo County Council.
